Fey Cole (Northern Ireland Representative)
Fey started her Early Years Career as a Nursery Nurse in a Montessori Nursery in London and went onto work in a variety of roles before moving to Northern Ireland.For the last nine years she has worked as a Lecturer delivering courses at both FE and higher education levels in Early Years. She has also worked in development roles within Playwork, Childminding and Children Services Planning, advocating for recognition and credit to the vast range of careers there are in the sector.Fey has a keen interest in international approaches to practice and has worked closely with Professionals abroad on collaborative projects to bring opportunities for people to learn from one another and give children the best possible start. She has been part of the working group who wrote the qualifications for the sector in Northern Ireland and keeps up to date with key issues by working closely with a range of provision providers. A big focus on her work is on raising the profile of the sector and bringing communities together through intergenerational projects. She is a strong advocate for play based learning and outdoor play. Through her experience of collaboration and work across a vast range of areas in Early Years, Fey hopes to offer Practitioners who are reflecting through the Early Years Academy, a supportive and creative space for individuals to learn and develop together. Fey also volunteers as a primary school Governor, has been a guest speaker at a range of Early Years/FE events and is a proud Mum of three children.
